How to Prolong the Life of Your Brake Pads
|
|
As a part of the Brake Service performed at EURO-japan AUTO WORKS, your car is equipped with new brake pads (shoes). Brake pads are an important component of the brake system. The longevity of your brake pads depends on how you use and apply brakes. By observing the following tips, you may be able to extend the useful life of your brakes for safety reasons, as well as to minimize the cost of replacing parts.
1. Avoid heavy and sudden braking, unless necessary.
2. Brake early, don't wait for the last minute to stop. Anticipate stops and begin to slow down by releasing the accelerator before starting to apply the brakes.
3. Use low gear when driving down a hill.
4. Never use your left foot for braking. Only the right foot should be used to brake-- after releasing the accelerator.
Warning Signs of Brake System Problems
1. Occasional squeaking sound from the brakes is normal. 2. Heavy grinding or harsh sound of metal means that a brake inspection is needed. 3. Moderate to intense vibrations while you brake may mean --Uneven disc, rotor or pad wear In severe cases (cars with high mileage, for example), suspension and front hub repair may be needed
